Perhaps I am proudest of my achievements with this operetta because it had languished more than any other and yet had the most ravishing score. I really did a number on the book and it’s swashbuckling adventure went from Paper Mill to NYCity Opera and Wolf Trap where is was filmed for PBS Great Performances. My first heroine was the stunning Judith McCauley who performed operetta better than anybody. Sexy Richard White embodied the perfect operetta hero and would be my leading man in many musicals.
