I grew up with Mary Martin playing Peter Pan and I felt cheated. Why was a woman playing Peter Pan? Girls had Alice, Dorothy, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty – but at that time boys had only Peter Pan. So I wanted to play it. Of course I was over 40 when I finally decided to do it! It almost killed me – but it was a magical production.
